Privacy Policy

Historify is designed to be a privacy-friendly application. We do not require you to create an account or provide personally identifiable information (such as your name or email address) to use the App's core features. Below is a summary of what we may collect depending on how you use the App:

The free version of Historify integrates the following third-party services that may collect information used to identify you, subject to their own privacy policies:

• Google AdMob — We use AdMob to display advertisements in the free tier. Google may use advertising identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID) to show personalized ads based on your interests. You can manage these preferences in your device's Google settings or by opting out of personalized advertising at Google's ad settings.
• Google Play Services — Required for app distribution, in-app purchases, and updates.
• Firebase (Google) — We use Firebase for authentication, cloud data storage (Firestore), file storage (Firebase Storage), and analytics. Firebase is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Wikipedia API — Event images are retrieved from Wikipedia's public API for display within the App. No user data is sent to Wikipedia.

Premium users do not see advertisements and are not subject to AdMob data collection during their Premium subscription period.

Historify offers a Premium subscription via in-app purchases processed by the Google Play Store. All financial transactions, payment processing, and billing are handled exclusively by Google.

Jordansoft does not collect, store, or have access to your payment method data (credit cards, bank accounts, etc.). Purchase receipts are verified locally using a SHA-256 hash stored in FlutterSecureStorage on your device — this data is never transmitted to our servers.

For refund requests and billing inquiries, please contact Google Play directly in accordance with their policies.

Historify uses two audio systems for event narrations:

• Pre-loaded audio files — High-quality narrations are bundled within the App's assets and play offline without any internet connection.
• Text-to-Speech (TTS) fallback — When pre-loaded audio is unavailable, the App uses the device's built-in Text-to-Speech engine (Google TTS or system default), which may require an internet connection depending on the device configuration.

When you sign in with Google, Historify synchronizes your progress to Firebase Firestore. The following data fields are stored under your Firebase user ID:

• Total XP, current level, and prestige count (crowns)
• List of completed quiz event IDs
• Daily streak count and last login date
• Display name and profile image URL (from your Google account or uploaded avatar)
• Premium status and expiration date
• Country (auto-detected, no precise geolocation)
• Remaining answer attempts
• Birth date (if set by the user)
• Personal timeline bookmarks (favorited event IDs)
• Timestamps: first ascension date and last sync

This data is protected by Firebase Security Rules that require authentication: only you can read and write your own data. Firebase Analytics collects anonymized, aggregated usage events to help us understand how the App is used and improve the experience.

Historify may send you local push notifications for:

• Daily "Today in History" historical events (8:00 PM)
• Motivational reminders throughout the day (6:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 10:00 PM)

These notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device using the flutter_local_notifications package. No user data is transmitted to external servers to generate these notifications. The content is personalized based on your local streak count and app language.

On Android 13 and above, you will be asked to grant notification permission. You can enable or disable notifications at any time from the App's Settings screen or from your device's system notification settings.

Historify may contain links to external websites, including:

• Wikipedia — for reading full historical articles
• Google Play Store — for ratings and reviews
• Jordansoft website — for legal documents and support

We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or policies of these external sites. We recommend reviewing their individual privacy policies when visiting them. The inclusion of any link does not imply our endorsement of the linked site.

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the App's services. Specifically:

• Anonymous users: Data is stored only on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App.
• Signed-in users: Cloud data in Firebase Firestore is retained until you request deletion or until your account is deactivated. Firebase Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymized form per Google's standard retention policies.
• Profile images: Avatar images uploaded to Firebase Storage are retained until you replace them or request account deletion.

We take the security of your data seriously and implement the following measures:

• Firebase Security Rules — Cloud data is access-controlled so that only authenticated users can read or modify their own documents.
• Secure local storage — Premium purchase receipts and sensitive tokens are stored using FlutterSecureStorage, which uses the Android Keystore system to encrypt data at rest.
• SHA-256 verification — Purchase receipts are verified locally using a cryptographic hash to prevent tampering.
• Minimal data collection — We collect only the data necessary to operate the App's features, following the principle of data minimization.

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to promptly addressing any breaches.

Historify is an educational application designed to be appropriate for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at the address below. We will take prompt steps to delete such information from our systems.

We encourage parents to monitor their children's use of mobile applications and to help enforce these guidelines.

We respect your right to control your personal data. If you have a signed-in account and wish to request the deletion of your account and all associated information, you can do so as follows:

1. How to request deletion: Send an email to historifiy@funginautas.uy from the email address associated with your Google account registered in the App.
2. Subject line: Use "Request for Account Deletion" and clearly state in the message that you wish to permanently remove your account and all profile data.
3. Processing time: Upon receiving your verified request, we will delete your account credentials, progress history, profile data, avatar, and all associated Firestore documents within 7 business days.
4. Irreversibility: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your XP, badges, streak history, bookmarks, and Premium status will be permanently lost.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

• Right of Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right of Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right of Erasure — Request deletion of your data (see Section 11 above).
• Right to Restrict Processing — Request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to Data Portability — Request a machine-readable export of your data.
• Right to Object — Object to certain uses of your data, such as for analytics.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the last updated date at the top of this document and may notify you through an in-app message.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. The most current version will always be accessible from the App's Settings screen. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
